Southern Youth and Family Services (SYFS), is an independent, local community based benevolent (charity) organization in the Southern piece of MSW. This urge extends to the children and families of these young people. SYFS assists individual young people and their families to improve their living situation, to reunite them to their families, to maintain their tenancies, to learn living and social skills, to link them to education and training, to support them to decrease the barriers to employment, and to enhance their health and overall well being. Southern Youth and Family Services Association Incorporated has been built up for over thirty years to provide an extensive range of services. The University had created links with Southern Youth and Family Services a few years before my placement and have continued this potent link with a number of students visiting the organization each year, broadening their understanding and practice when busy with young people in disadvantaged situations.
