aims is contracted to collect and treat molten slag from the blast furnace and the steel making processes. aims is a different company that can be broken into two major categories: From blast furnace slag we provide granulated slag, definite aggregates and blended products such as road bases and masonry products. At the Blast furnace we own and operate plant and equipment to process molten Blast Furnace Slag into products for the construction industry. At the BBS we yield slag pit operations and the handling of Gish, skull material, rubble and other steel making co products. In addition to these services we also provide metal recovery, metal refining, road maintenance and construction services, mill scale collection and processing services and environmental services. These aggregates are produced to confront the specification of the definite industry. These aggregates are produced to face the specifications needed for asphalt. Improves resistance to rutting and deformation. aims produces differing types of civil products that include masonry blends, road bases, sub base materials filter aggregates and select fill materials. Iron is extracted from iron ore in a blast furnace by a process known as reduction. The raw materials iron ore, coke and fluxes are fed into the top of the furnace. Air, which is heated to about 1200C, is blown into the furnace through nozzles called tuyeres (pron: tweeters) that are spaced around the under section of the furnace. Blast Furnace Slag is a co product of the iron making process. aims then further process and market the blast furnace slag into useful products for the construction industry such as concrete aggregates, road base products. Blast Furnace Slag can be processed in another manner known as Granulation. The BBS (Basic Oxygen Steel Making) process is one, which utilizes the molten iron from the blast furnace with the addition of scrap steel and fluxes. These fluxes (burnt lime or dolomite) are fed into a vessel and a lance that injects oxygen creates a reaction between the molten iron, fluxes and scrap to create steel and steel slag. The Steel is tapped from the vessel into a steel ladle and the steel slag is poured into a slag pot. aims processes and markets steel furnace slag into asphalt aggregates, road bases, fill materials and filter materials. Due to the scope of works and specifications of the various products required, aims utilized both steel furnace and blast furnace slag products. There is increasing interest in sustainable construction. In today’s environmentally cognizant world, not only does the increasing use of green products such as many of those made from iron blast furnace slag represent a more responsible approach to the environment, but it also makes good economic sense. Significantly higher compressive and flexural strength.
