What you should know about Arcadians Theatre Group Ltd

Theatre in Wollongong

Back in 1964, a little group of people voiced the need for a musical comedy group in Wollongong. As their enthusiasm grew, a name for the Group was needed. Founder member Dallas Blake perceived the idea of Arcadian, pertaining to Arcadia (L.Arcadius), a place of happiness. The premature days of the Group saw properties housed in garages and rehearsals conducted at a variety of venues. This was our home until 30 May, 1997 when we purchased the Corrimal Community Hall and Library complex, with the aim of developing it into a stateofart theater, generous us the unique position among st other beginner theater groups of owning a performance space, building a fresh home of our own, and becoming an integral segment of the cultural environment of Wollongong’s northern suburbs. Over the years, the Arcadian theater Group has been a proud and energetic contributor to life in the Illawarra. This prosperous sell out season was highly acclaimed has and galvanized the Group to continue to bring excellent theater to the Illawarra. Many charities and groups in the area have benefited from donations raised by our members, and we remain to bear opportunities for performers, musicians and technical crew to practice and appreciate their craft. Some of our members have gone on to highly triumphant theatrical careers maximum notably Australia’s clever Phantom of the Opera, Anthony Barlow.

Doreen, our Music Director, makes practice recordings for all four voices separately so that all choristers can practice the way she wants us to sing a special song, in our own home. Whenever the choir has any concerts with other choirs they are there to yield huge refreshments for all the performers. Happy Hour was 6.15 p.m in the Dining Room and a two Course meal with vast variety was served every evening. The choirs' performance, while not quite as appropriate as at Newcastle, was very healthy received and appreciated by those present. He was widely obvious throughout the Illawarra, because of his incredible baritone voice, and his participation in so many Arcadian performances, as well as Lamplighter concerts. It was also one of the maximum appreciative audiences that we have performed for in a long time. The Wollongong Song was also well received. He has been a member of the Lamplighters for many years as healthy as participating in many of the Arcadian performances. There was an extremely appropriate attendance of choristers and their partners. The choir’s recital at St Augustine’s Church in bull was very much appreciated by those in attendance particularly the immediate family members of the men’s families. A lot of rehearsing and planning was put into it by many people but some in people exceptional should be singled out for our gratitude. The day was long and would soon final at last. The Lamplighters then showed their appreciation by doing what they do best singing!! During this period he met the love of his life Enid Jones, I trust they didn’t actually get together at that time but met up again later and this time things were a small more pensive between them. Although Ken was never obvious for his singing voice, singing with the choir became an important part of Ken and Enid’s life, and alongside his distinguished love for Conventional Jazz the contrasting subtleties of hymn singing took its elated place. Thank heavens for The Lamplighters and the friends he made there. Back in 1964, a trivial group of people voiced the need for a musical comedy group in Wollongong. We are a beautiful community family each new member is welcomed and respected as piece of the ACT family. Men who love to sing are invited to consider joining the Lamplighters. The Arcadian theater Group is arrogant to give HAIR, now in its 50 Ch year and still as pertinent as it was when it was written. Each Choir also has their own spot to sing some of their favorite audience leasers and traditional Male Choir songs. Into The Woods takes some well loved Grimes’ Fairy Tales, and references numerous others, weaving the plots and characters into a story of love and longing, quests, wishes, and consequences. Meanwhile, Robert has the opportunity to study the lives of all of his married friends, and what he sees does not exactly fill him with encouragement. It’s adequate to make Robert ask whether he ever wants to unite the ranks of the married.
